I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest

About: Years after writing stories about a superheroine character she created with a best friend who died in a tragic car accident, sixteen-year-old May is shocked to see stickers, patches, and graffiti images of the superheroine appearing around Seattle.

Ofilia’s Thoughts: This is an intriguing plot filled with mystery and murder. I loved the way the comic is integrated within the narrative. It really added so much to the story. I also loved that we have two teen female protagonists that are BFFs and really looking out for each other—no girl hate here. There are elements of the story that are resolved too easily and the end is a bit too neat for my liking, but overall I really enjoyed the story.
